Over the coming weeks, Michael will be working on Open Data Radar, a project that puts ODON’s Open Data Maturity Model (ODMM) to work as a public, searchable registry of Austrian open data.

Today there’s no single place to check how open a dataset really is. Open Data Radar aims to change that — rating datasets along both the legal (L1–L4) and technical (T1–T4) dimensions of the ODMM, so that anyone can tell at a glance whether data is legally reusable and technically usable, or where it falls short.

During the internship, Michael will select and rate 30–50 datasets from the data.gv.at catalogue by hand, help draft the rating guide, and contribute to building the metadata ingestion pipeline and automated technical checks. He’ll also work on the register mockup and the design of the openness badge. The result will be a public batch of rated Austrian datasets alongside a working rating-pipeline prototype — a concrete demonstration of the ODMM in action.
