New Course: Learning AI Chat Tools
We’ve published Learning AI Chat Tools, a new course teaching interns and members how to use AI chat tools effectively — how to get useful answers, judge output critically, and know when to trust one tool over another.
The course is self-paced and takes roughly 1.5–2 hours end to end, across six modules. No prior AI experience is assumed. Along the way, learners work through two hands-on exercises: classifying a dataset using ODON’s ODMM, and exploring the ODON API.
To work through it, click “Use this template” on the repository to get your own copy, then work through the modules in order.
This is Part 1 of a two-part course; Part 2 will build on it with AI-assisted coding.
The course was put together primarily for our interns, but it’s written so members, volunteers, or the public can pick it up too, and the materials are openly licensed (CC BY 4.0).
This is the first version of the course, and we’d welcome any feedback — feel free to open an issue on the repository or get in touch.
