Welcome Chiara Hamedinger and Sarah Hamedinger — Working on Open Data Klassenzimmer

We’re pleased to welcome Chiara Hamedinger and Sarah Hamedinger to ODON for a three-week internship. Starting today, they’ll be working together on Open Data Klassenzimmer, a project that turns ODON’s own internship know-how into a self-paced, open curriculum — teaching students to find, clean, and tell stories with real Austrian open data, no lecture hall required.

The curriculum draws on ODON’s three existing internship tracks (Open Data, APIs and Data Engineering, and Data Analysis and Storytelling) and turns them into reusable teaching material. It’s a direct match for ODON’s statutory mission of educating the next generation in open data — and as a side effect, it will also give future interns a ready-made onboarding curriculum of their own.

Over the coming weeks, Chiara and Sarah will select and document classroom-ready datasets, write a dataset-picking guide, build a simple API pull-in demo with hands-on query exercises, draft a full curriculum outline and lesson module, and design a teacher workshop kit. The result will be a real, classroom-ready lesson module and dataset pack that future students — and future interns — can actually learn from.

Welcome to the team, Chiara and Sarah!
