Badges are awarded for completed, reviewed work — not for time spent. The criteria are public so that anyone can see what a badge stands for.

ODON Creator

Completed a first contribution that was reviewed and accepted.

Open Data badge

Open Data

Sourced and documented a dataset, including its licence and an ODMM assessment (Legal and Technical Openness).

Data Engineering & APIs badge

Data Engineering & APIs

Built or meaningfully improved a data pipeline or an API dataset that was reviewed and deployed.

Data Storytelling badge

Data Storytelling

Co-authored a published Data Story or visualisation.

Mentor badge

Mentor

Guided another Creator or an intern through a project to completion.

Who Reviews

A member of the association — a Board member or an experienced member — reviews the work and confirms the badge criteria.

Interns can earn the same badges for their internship work.

Verifying a Badge or Certificate

Employers and others can ask us to confirm a badge or certificate at info@odon.at. For Creators with a public profile, the profile on our website serves as confirmation.
